What Is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, (like other RITs) is a treatment that uses the body’s own growth factors, concentrating them, and applying them to the area that is injured or painful.
As the name suggests suggests, platelets are used for the treatment. Before the treatment begins, your blood is drawn and then spun down in a centrifuge and a specific portion of the blood is utilized. This layer consists largely of platelets and White Blood Cells. In the platelets contain numerous growth factors that directly stimulate the repair of ligaments, tendons and cartilage.
